Preliminary ActionsThe client had a power outage, and the load was protected and switched to the generator. However, after the power was restored, the UPS would not come back online from bypass.
ResolutionSomewhere along the process of returning the UPS back to normal online operation from bypass mode, the Emergency Power Off (EPO) switch was activated, which caused the output contactor to remain open until it was reset. After going through the alarms with the client and verifying voltage, the Nationwide Power engineer was able to determine that there were no issues with the UPS. After resetting the EPO, the output contactor closed and the client’s load was restored. The Nationwide Power engineer verified the unit’s readings and ensured that the unit was online and protecting the critical load.
Root CauseInadvertent activation of the EPO switch.
