ApplicationMedical Facility Data Center
SynopsisCustomer received a bad battery module notification. A replacement module was ordered over the internet and installed. Battery alarm did not clear with the replacement module.
Preliminary ActionsNationwide Power Engineer found that the replacement battery module that was ordered contained a different brand of battery than the other battery modules in the UPS.
ResolutionAs a result of the different electrical characteristics of the replacement module, the firmware concluded that the module was bad and in need of replacement. After replacing all four battery modules in that row with identical batteries, the firmware accepted them as good, resulting in savings for the client in form of not having to replace perfectly functional modules.
Root CauseDissimilar batteries/modules within the same row.
