Critical Power Professional™ | Raising the bar in critical power education

At Nationwide Power, we take training and continuing education very seriously. In fact, we consider our rigorous curriculum to be one of the key components that sets Nationwide Power apart from the sea of alternative UPS service providers in the market. Our commitment is so strong, that we have created and established the industry-leading credentialing and career program – Critical Power Professionals™ (CPP™).

The Critical Power Professional™ is a nationally trademarked credential program that demonstrates a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge base of Uninterruptible Power Supply systems, including all major manufacturers and supporting gear.

The CPP™ program has been structured around the following core competencies:

  • Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems / Electrical / Communications
  • NFPA / Electrical Safety
  • UPS Batteries
  • Critical Infrastructure / Security
  • Environmental Conditions
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • OSHA Training

Additionally, CPP™ candidates must also study and demonstrate familiarization with the following:

  • IEEE Std 450-1995: Recommended Practice for Maintenance, Testing, and Replacement of Vented Lead-Acid Batteries for Stationary Applications
  • IEEE Std 1188-2005: Replacement of Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) Batteries for Stationary Applications.
  • National Electric Code

While our team at Nationwide Power employs all the training platforms that are familiar to the critical power industry, largely consisting of on-the-job training and virtual training seminars, we raise the bar just a little higher. In 2013, when moving into our larger corporate offices and warehouse in Henderson, NV, a sophisticated training center and state-of-the-art testing and repair lab were at the top of the criteria list. Our current location offers just that:

  • Hands-on training with all major UPS makes and models
  • Quarterly model-specific training classes
  • Live simulation with common UPS failures and forced load loss
  • Access to over 200 UPS units for testing and training purposes including legacy models
  • Four (4) teaching bays all with 120/208/480 power

While we wish we could round up our national Field Engineer Team for a critical power training conference, our 24/7/365 support schedule just won’t allow that. Instead, we host mini seminars throughout the year where we gather a dozen or so Field Engineers at a time, leaving our customers and remaining engineers in the field fully supported.

Major manufacturers in our training program include Eaton, APC/Schneider, Vertiv/Liebert, GE, MGE, Toshiba, and Mitsubishi.
After a full week in the classroom, and before sending everyone off to their homes across the country, the team comes together to unwind and reconnect. Even with a national footprint, maintaining our family-like culture is at the top of the priority list.

Our team works hard every day, and their commitment to quality is unrivaled. HR Manager, Diana Forrest, adds, “Employees have a high level of pride in their jobs and it shows in the quality work they produce. Nationwide Power appreciates their employees’ dedication and provides them with a true work-life balance.”

Nationwide Power hosts quarterly team building activities and outings to show appreciation for the hard work the team does, day in and day out. It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

NATIONWIDE POWER CELEBRATES 18th YEAR IN BUSINESS

NATIONWIDE POWER CELEBRATES 18th YEAR IN BUSINESS

News Article

NATIONWIDE POWER CELEBRATES 18th YEAR IN BUSINESS

It is with great pride to announce that our team at Nationwide Power celebrates our 18th year in business! Over the years, we have grown to have the largest national footprint among UPS service providers, and we have built our business on one key principle: quality.

Here is what our Vice President, Jim Hallingstad had to say: “Quality and service are at the core of everything we do, and it starts internally with hiring top talent, investing in training, and investing in our team members. Over the years, we have made a point not to bite off more than we can chew, and always make good on our word.”

Our customers receive at least one customer feedback survey each year. Year after year, with thousands of surveys received, our team earns a 5-Star Review over 98% of the time; an accomplishment that is celebrated often and throughout the company.

Opening for business in 2001 with just two employees, our original business model focused on one primary aspect: Equipment Sales for Eaton Powerware. As the critical power industry grew at an exponential rate, our team at Nationwide Power recognized a growing need among businesses throughout the country. With more customers seeking greater choices on maintenance and battery replacement service providers, our company’s path was clearly established.

Within the first six years of business, our team expanded and relocated three times. With each move, we secured greater warehouse space so we could react more quickly to the needs of our clients. By 2007, we grew from 1,000 square feet to over 21,000 square feet. Over the years, our company continued to receive growth and achievement awards throughout the community and from our various OEM partners.

In 2013, we made the latest move to our current location: 1060 Mary Crest Road, Henderson, NV 89074. With over 57,000 square feet of corporate office and warehouse space, a state-of-the art testing facility with 1MW of power, and a hands-on training center, Nationwide Power continues to lead the industry in innovation and quality.

Over the years, our size and scale may have grown tremendously, but our overarching goal has not changed: to deliver the industry’s best service. Today, our team continues to set the bar in the critical power industry in terms of quality, training, and service levels with its key differentiators:

  • Highly experienced field engineer team averaging over 22 years of direct industry experience. This means each and every team member goes through the same rigorous training program and is held to the same level of accountability. When service providers out-source one of the most critical roles in the organization, they lose control of quality. That is not something we are willing to compromise.
  • Our national footprint allows for same day response in most areas. When we say we do not bite off more than we can chew, we mean it. We have acquired many customers over the years from other companies that over-promise and under-deliver.
  • Industry leading 57,000 square foot warehouse with over $10 million in UPS equipment and parts inventory. This allows us to service legacy equipment that oftentimes the OEM would deem obsolete.
  • State-of-the art testing facility with 1MW of power and a repair lab that allows for board level testing.
  • Corporate office and warehouse location in Henderson, NV – less than 10 minutes from the McCarran International Airport allows for expedited parts shipping.
  • 24-7-365 live support for contracted customers.
  • Safety-first workplace with nearly 1 million hours injury-free and incident-free.

According to Hallingstad, “We simply never would have achieved this kind of growth without the team we have in place. With roughly 100 team members, each and every one of us plays a significant role in the level of quality we deliver, to the success of our business, and ultimately, keeping our customers always on. We also can’t say enough about our great partners like Eaton and CSB. Without great partners we would not have been able to be this successful. People. Product. Process.”

Here’s to the next 18 successful years!

Experience our quality

NATIONWIDE POWER NAMES EATON’S 93PM THE MOST VERSATILE UPS OF 2019

NATIONWIDE POWER NAMES EATON’S 93PM THE MOST VERSATILE UPS OF 2019

News Article

NATIONWIDE POWER NAMES EATON’S 93PM THE MOST VERSATILE UPS OF 2019

With hundreds of UPS equipment options on the market, ranging from manufacturer, model, kVA size and more, Nationwide Power names Eaton’s 93PM the most versatile UPS of 2019.

“At Nationwide Power, we sell millions of dollars’ worth of equipment each year, from all major manufacturers, starting as small as 2kVA and selling over 500kVA. We have selected the Eaton 93PM as the most versatile UPS model of the year due to its scalability, reliability and price point,” Ryan Murphy, National Sales Manager, states.

As a commercial Eaton Certified Power Specialist, the top tier of their partner program, the Equipment Sales team at Nationwide Power is familiar with the full Eaton product line. We sat down with Kelly Mehta, 93PM Product Manager, and asked her some questions about the 93PM:

Nationwide Power: Kelly, with so much talk surrounding the reduction of energy costs, how is the 93PM UPS positioned in the market compared to others?

Kelly Mehta: We specifically designed the 93PM to provide high efficiency operation in double conversion with an optional ESS mode available.

NP: Can you elaborate on what sets Eaton’s ESS mode apart?

Kelly: Eaton has offered the Energy Saver System (ESS) since 2009, and with over 10-years of proven experience with this technology, we have tens of millions of hours operating in ESS mode in the market. Collectively, the systems in the field have saved over 300GWh of energy. Additionally, the same reliable software monitoring and controlling the system in double conversion is used to support ESS mode, allowing the UPS to intelligently respond to power anomalies by engaging power modules in less than two milliseconds.

NP: You mentioned earlier that the 93PM is a pay-as-you-grow configuration. Can you tell us more about this?

Kelly: The 93PM was designed with a scalable platform. As your need to increase kVA grows, we can reconfigure the UPS to greater kVA sizes provided you planned for this at the time of purchase. I know Nationwide Power does a great job educating their customers by some of the orders I have seen. This design also provides for options for internal redundancy for added protection.

NP: There is also demand to reduce cooling and footprint requirements. How was this considered in the design of the 93PM?

Kelly: We designed the 93PM to be high in power density while at the same time, taking up less space thanks to its small footprint. Additionally, the high efficiency contributes to energy savings and reduces cooling requirements.

NP: We were excited to see the 208V model released. How is this being received?

Kelly: The 208V model has taken off and there is a lot of demand for it. As with most Eaton products, the available accessories and options help accommodate for a flexible and easily deployed system. As the 9390 model winds down to end-of-life (EOL), the 93PM will be the new workhorse for the foreseeable future.

Nationwide Power has been partnering with Eaton since 2001 and is the leading independent provider in the critical power industry. Its core business is focused on the sales and service of UPS equipment, batteries and service, along with supporting other critical power components such as emergency generators, switch gear, and HVAC.

The Nationwide Power Annual Critical Power Sales Summit

The Nationwide Power Annual Critical Power Sales Summit

News Article

The Nationwide Power Annual Critical Power Sales Summit

In mid-February, our team at Nationwide Power hosted the 2019 Power Summit. We flew in team members, vendors, and OEM partners from across the country to talk critical power infrastructure. The week-long Power Summit included topics like 2018 performance, industry and economic trends, quality, innovation, and continuing education.
Here are just a few of the achievements in 2018 we’re excited to share:

  • NP received Eaton’s highest designation of reseller, Certified Eaton Premium Power Partner.
  • After several years of sales achievement awards from Hitachi-CSB batteries, the current fiscal year is on track to be a record breaking one for Nationwide Power.
  • Sales Representative, Terry Westergard, took home the “Top Producer” award for new business.
  • For the fifth year running, our team exceeds an average 4.9 out of 5-star rating from customer reviews.
  • Our IT department unveiled a series of internal, proprietary software designed to further the company’s commitment to cutting edge technology to support the highest levels of quality and service for its customers.

  • We also completed the 3rd straight year of zero lost time work accidents.
  • The team welcomed new Field Engineers throughout the country to keep up with the growing demand for high quality service.
  • 2018 marked another year running of double-digit growth.

Jim Hallingstad, Vice President, notes, “This is an exciting time for our organization. Quality was the underlying theme throughout 2018, and last week, we reinforced that this will be the new normal. As we continue to grow at an aggressive – yet sustainable – rate, we as an organization must also be prepared to expand without sacrificing quality and service. I am proud of the accomplishments our team has made over the years, and 2019 is shaping up to be another great year.”

The Power Summit hosted some of our top vendors and OEM partners, including Eaton and National Power. According to Jim Hallingstad, “We believe strongly in our core values, which puts the customer first, and we seek out and build strong partnerships with those who share similar values. We have some exciting things on the horizon with our OEM partners, and suppliers we have partnered with over the years, and look forward to sharing more as the year progresses.”
